[purchase/affiliate] I don’t know why I’ve left it so late to post about these bra tops that I have been living in all summer – the thought of going back to a proper bra … well, I can’t think about it. The good thing about my tardiness is that some of the bra tops are in the sale.

I have bought SO many of these – (this is an out-take picture from Body Shop campaign so please excuse armpit! but it’s the only one I have that properly shows the top) – at least six or seven this summer and countless over the past couple of years – and they really are ultimate comfort with the right level of support for day to day and for light exercise. Until Uniqlo came up with the built-in bra version, I was a fan of them as vest tops for sleep (and still am), but now they have the bra element they are every day wear.

Uniqlo Bra Top

This is my favourite – I’m wearing a light coloured version today – because I love the racer back. My conventional bra size is 34 D and I take a size Medium which would also be fine for a C cup I think and slightly wider back. The Large will encompass a 36 cup and a smaller 38 cup (you know when you hover between sizes) and XL or XXL for any larger cups. I bought L for a friend who is 36DD and it was too small.  Sizes M, L and XL are left, with L left in light grey HERE. They’re £12.90 each reduced from £19.90.

This is another style that I have worn and worn – I have it in brown and in white – there are a few left in M in white for £5.90 instead of £19.90 HERE.

This basic style is in the Airism textile which means that it has a cooling effect (opt for Heat-tech if you want a warming effect) and if you’re like me and get hot in a jumper and/or need a layer between skin and wool, it’s perfect for either eventuality. These days I don’t venture to Heat-tech – I’ve got my own internal central heating going on but don’t like jumper to skin OR drafts so it’s ideal. These are repeat styles but new in so they’re £19.90 each in varying shades (some sizes are sold out but will restock) HERE.  There’s a cami-strap version too. The main picture is a new Heat-tech style, £19.90 HERE – nice for under a woolly cardi I think, and comes in several shades.

I’ve also got a couple of the crop Airism versions (above) which I usually wear under a strappy maxi dress on baking hot days because they look a bit silky or where (in the case of my Hush dress) the V is just a bit too deep – and for yoga – all sizes are still available HERE for £19.90.  The only built-in bra style I’d advise against – or at least adjust your cup expectations is the V Neck Camisole – I had one in M and it’s really just a little bit too snug. With Airism, by the way, you won’t feel cold, you just won’t boil over. I don’t know how I lived without these bra tops – they’ve revolutionised my underpinnings! I stick more or less to a neutral colour scheme – black, white and beige so they go under anything at all – beige for white t-shirts or shirts is particularly good unless you are more deeply toned. I think back in the day they would have been called ‘nude’ but as we all know, that’s a myriad of shades in real life.

The only thing against them is that they have to go over the head to put on so if you have reduced mobility, particularly in the shoulders or arms, it could be a struggle. Otherwise, honestly, I don’t think there could be a single regret. Uniqlo has a good sizing system to do take the time to use it to get it right first time.

So, the thing that’s put me in mind to post is that I’m hoping to head up to Uniqlo on Regent Street later today to buy a rain coat – I have a feeling I’m going to need it in the next few weeks! Non-affiliate link is HERE.
