[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] More skinny brush mascara! Isn’t it strange how suddenly, these under-rated brushes are everywhere. Aside from Charlotte Tilbury’s new mascara, which has put the skinny brush firmly back in the spot light, they’ve been here for ever. We’ve just been so side-tracked by the notion that a bigger brush is better and will give bigger lashes that they’ve somehow slipped into obscurity but I love them for not overloading lashes. Massive and thick isn’t for everyone.

Trish McEvoy Tubing Mascara

Tubing mascaras don’t smudge or move so are perfect for hooded eyes that tend to get little dots where the lash hits the skin on the upper lid. This is quite a wet formula so you need to give it a minute or so to set. The only thing that’s different from usual mascara is that you remove with a damp wash cloth that loosens the tubes around the lashes and gently sweep them away.

A little shout out too for the 24 Hour Shadow and Liner – seen here in Smoky Quartz – again, I am a fan of the sticks! Super easy, one swipe that stays put – it’s the simplest way to apply lid colour. High street brands have got good at these too so there are plenty of options but this one is a stayer if you want reliable all day cover. As you can see below, Smoky Quartz is a deep, heathery shade with grey accents.

They’re £24 each and the Mascara is £22 HERE, non affiliate HERE. Trish McEvoy – without specifically making a song and dance – produces make up that I think is so well suited to older women in particular. The brand was founded in 1975 so as an older woman herself, and former make-up artist, Trish knows exactly how to make those quiet, understated products that immediately become staples as soon as you know about them.
