Jessica lost 31 pounds. She was pre-diabetic, and she realized that her health was slowly declining. Making medicinal teas, intermittent fasting (OMAD), and working out 3-4 days a week were crucial parts of her journey.

When did you start your weight loss journey?
I started at 207 pounds in Jan 2020. My current weight is 176 pounds. I would like to lose about 9 lbs more to be in my best health.

For me, losing weight mainly consisted of changing the way/what I eat through OMAD (one meal a day) and fasting. Secondly, herbs played a significant part by giving me energy on my fasting days, detoxing the body, healing my insulin resistance, helping to burn fat, and balancing my hormones. Third, I made an effort to work out 3-4 days a week. I’ve always been active in the gym. However, the weight did not start melting off until I changed my diet. Weight loss is 80% diet and 20% fitness.

What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
I was pre-diabetic, and I realized my health was slowly declining. I knew that I was robbing myself of living at my highest potential by not getting serious about my health.

How did you change your eating habits?
I chose to do intermittent fasting 20/4. I also did a few extended water fast cleanses. When I did eat, I decreased my meat intake to a few days a week and reduced eating out.

As an herbalist, I blended and created my own medicinal teas based upon my needs. I created an energy blend for my days of fasting. This was critical in helping me to work out while fasting. I also made an herbal blend of Sage, Gymnema, and Bay leaf to restore my pancreas.

Jessica before and after

What did your workout routine consist of?
I love to weight train and have been doing so for years. However, I didn’t start losing weight until my diet changed. I prefer to walk in nature for cardio for 40 minutes to an hour a few days a week.

What is your height?
5’4”

Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No.

What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned so far is that you must stop self-sacrificing. So many times, we neglect ourselves to take care of others. We must understand that what is in our cup is for us, and the overflow is for others. This thought process will allow you to stop being drained. Once you allow your cup to stay filled, you will realize that your overflow (for others) grows. To love/help others, you must first love/help yourself.

What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
Listen to and speak positive affirmations to yourself DAILY. Envision yourself in your best health and know your Why. Stay determined. When you start to slack, remind yourself of your why.
